The 1988 Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition Was An Expensive Way To Celebrate The 34-year-old’s Le Mans Victory

The 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans kicks off on June 8, with Jaguar introducing the 1988 F-Pace SVR on Tuesday. This limited edition SUV pays homage to the Jaguar XJR-9. A racing car that won first place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988.

To be honest, we don’t really care about Le Mans ties, we do care more about the looks of the F-Pace. Finished with Midnight Amethyst Gloss Exterior Paint for the new exterior paint. It’s gorgeous in its own right, but doubles as when paired with the 22-inch gold wheels on the 1988 edition . There are additional gold details inside and out, as well as the Limited Edition badge you’ll ever need.

Given the number of laps the XJR-9 has completed at Le Mans, only 394 of the 1988 SUV’s will be sold worldwide. In the US, the 1988 version is priced at $111,150 (including the $1,150 destination), which is $23,400 more than the base F-Pace SVR. Even an SVR fully loaded with one of Jaguar’s other flashy paint jobs wouldn’t make $100,000.

Mechanically, the 1988 version is the same as the other F-Pace SVR models. That is, the power comes from a supercharged 5.0-liter V8, which produces 542 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. By combining an 8-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive, the SVR can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds.

Jaguar says a 1988 version of the F-Pace SVR is currently available to order. After debuting at the 2022 Le Mans 24 Hours, the 1988 edition will hit the hills at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in late June.
