SQ7 is completely agricultural.
If you’re looking for a three-row family car with an emphasis on transportation, the Audi SQ7 might be just the ticket. In 2022, this high-speed SUV will add more standard technical features to support the Stonkin V8 engine and all-wheel drive system.

The SQ7 has a more aggressive look than the standard Q7. The S-only shock absorber has larger air intakes, and the standard 21-inch alloy wheels, like the quad exhaust tips, make it very attractive. If you want a darker look, you can opt for the Black Optic package to add a darker touch to the grille, mirror caps, door slats, window frames, bumper details and roof rails.
At the heart of the SQ7 is a 4.0-liter V8 with a twin turbocharger that regenerates at start-up. This is the same engine used in the aggro RSQ8, but here it is set to “only ” returns 500 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. All that roar falls to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Audi outfitted the SQ7 with adaptive air suspension and rear axle steering, and the optional torque-rear differential really helps with the SUV’s 5,291-pound craze. On the road, the SQ7 reclines and treats it like a leader, and it feels much smaller and leaner. The Audi active roll stabilizer technology helps here in combination with the powerful summer tires. My only complaint is that the steering feel is really light – a feature common to all new Audis.
In terms of linear speed, Audi says the SQ7 can hit 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, and highway merging is easy thanks to plenty of low-end power. Of course, fuel economy will be suppressed here, but it’s pretty much the same when compared to other high-performance SUVs. The SQ7 was rated at 15 mpg in the city, 21 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg, and a week-long test showed 19.3 mpg.
The SQ7 has three rows of seats, but the round-trip is for children only. I smeared the 5-foot-9-inch tire in there and believe me. This is not a place for adults. However, if you fold the third row flat, you’ll have plenty of cargo space, 35.7 cubic feet to be exact. It outperforms competitors such as the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE class and Genesis GV80.
The interior of the SQ7 is stylish and comfortable.
The interior was filled with soft-touch materials, leather upholstery and the red finish of my test car. Heated, ventilated, massaging front and rear seats, heated rear seats, LED ambient lighting, electric soft-closed doors and more—all luxury features like never before.
The Audi Virtual Cockpit Digital Gauge Cluster operates on a 12.3-inch screen and is one of the best in the business, thanks mainly to Google Satellite Maps View. The rest of the Audi infotainment system is located on two screens stacked in the center console. The 10.1-inch screen at the top is used for functions such as navigation and media, and the 8.6-inch screen at the bottom performs air conditioning and other functions. It also includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
By 2022, high-speed adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance will be standard equipment. The tester also has some optional features, such as plug assist. Intersection Assist can monitor traffic at intersections and prevent oncoming vehicles from turning left.
SQ7 is easy to admire.
Of course, all this power, luxury and technology has a price. With all the bells and whistles, it will cost testers $106,390, including a target of $1,095. That’s nearly $20,000 above the suggested base retail price. This includes the $5,000 Prestige plan and the $5,900 Sports plan. The latter is a means of obtaining an active rear differential.
What is there at this price? If you can live with just two rows of seats, the BMW X5 M50i and Porsche Cayenne S are all about power, but I prefer the SQ7’s interior and technology . If you don’t need a V8, the Genesis GV80 and Mercedes-AMG GLE53 are optional, but not very exciting.
No matter how expensive it is, the 2022 Audi SQ7 is the Lip Roarin SUV that doesn’t sacrifice anything in terms of comfort or useful features. Forget the third line. It’s a great driving and luxury SUV that meets your speed needs.
